about kindling
A team of two programmers and two artists set out to create a light hearted resource management game themed around the 2021 Global Game Jam brief, “Lost and Found”. The result was Kindling, an adventure to help save a crew of kindlings stranded on a desert island before their fire burns out.
Project Goals
Create a playable game within 48 hours
Fire System - Fire timer goes up and down based on player input
Minimum 3 controllable characters. Players controls them to execute tasks
Pick things items
Put items in fire
Point & Click character select and movement
Highlight selected character - Visual Feedback
Moveable isometric 45° camera

Features
Within the 48 hour time limit, our group was able to include every one of our project goals. We continued to push ourselves and included more features such as:
Advanced Fire System - Multiple fires can be placed at once
Harvesting Resources - Cutting and mining animations and progress bar
Character Inventory - Unique for each of the three controllable characters
Pause Menu - Options for Tutorial, Resume, and Quit
Easter Egg - Characters can be set on fire
